Established in 1990, Gomel State Medical University is one of the most esteemed public teaching universities and the youngest of four medical universities in the Republic of Belarus. The university is located in Gomel and was founded as per the resolution of the Council of Ministers and on the order of the Minister of Health of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic.
The medical degree awarded by Gomel State Medical University is globally recognized by the MCI, WHO, USMLE and many other leading medical councils of the world. The university offers five to six-year programs in basic and clinical medical science across four major faculties. The university also has the Faculty of Pre-University Training that is basically a one-year program before admission into a full-time undergraduate course to the university.
The university houses over 4,000 students with nearly 800 international students. The academic staff includes over 275 members with more than one-third holding MD/PhD degrees.
