Ternopil State Medical University

Established in 1957, Ternopil State Medical University is one of the most popular government universities to study medicine in Ukraine. The university has achieved the 4th level Of Accreditation and is officially recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), Medical Council of India (MCI), United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), European Medical Association, and Ministry of Health of Ukraine.


Situated in Ternopil, the university has two academic buildings, two dormitories and three affiliated clinics. Moreover, it has 19 departments and four faculties for undergraduate as well as postgraduate students.


Furthermore, the university currently houses over 6,530 students with more than 1977 international students from 53 countries. At present, there are 600 professors, 460 associate professors and 102 Doctors of Science and full professors at TSMU.


According to a 2021 report by the QS Ranking System, this university holds 15th rank in the top universities of Ukraine. Due to a large number of foreign students, English is the language of instruction for the majority of students. However, classes usually take place in Ukrainian, English, and Russian depending upon the students' preferred mode of instruction.


This government-funded higher institution is highly focused on imparting medical degrees to aspiring students by research-based education. The total duration of the medical course at Ternopil State Medical University is five years and eight months followed by one year of internship.
