Medical University of Gdansk

Established in 1945, the Medical University of Gdansk is the largest medical university in northern Poland. The university is located in Gdańsk in the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland and is widely popular for its exceptional teaching pedagogies. The medical degree awarded by the Medical University of Gdansk is globally recognized by the MCI, WHO, USMLE and many other leading medical councils of the world.


The university houses more than 5,200 undergraduate and postgraduate students and 176 doctoral candidates studying across four major faculties. The administrative staff includes nearly 1,657 employees whereas the academic staff includes over 1,500 teachers, professors and assistant professors.

The university's affiliated teaching hospitals viz. the Academic Clinical Centre and the Non-Invasive Medical Center are fully equipped with modernized diagnostic equipment and are co-financed by the state budget.


The two clinical hospitals viz. the University Clinical Centre – the MUG Hospital and the Institute of Maritime and Tropical Medicine offer medical treatments unavailable anywhere else in Northern Poland. This gives students on clinical rotations better chances to work on new medical cases and polish their doctoral skills.
